The G Course
MANDATORY TO COMPLETE before taking another license course
This beginning course for coaches teaches about both coaching organization and theory. Our
intention in the G course it to help you to become a more resourceful
and confident “activity leader”-to combine your enthusiasm and
commitment to children with the basic theory and practical exercises
that we will provide. We will cover teaching and
correcting dribbling, passing, and shooting technique as well as
particular characteristics of U6 and U8 players.
Prerequisites: None
Content: Ideas
about how to organize practices and game days, a number of practical
activities and stimulating games for practices, ideas on parent
education, learning theory, demonstration of basic techniques.
Materials (Given to the coach): Zipper Bag containing the Mass Youth Soccer G Manual and Coaching Program shirt.
Duration: 4 hours
Cost: $30/person
Deposit: $300 (10 person minimum)
The F Course
A
more ambitious introductory course for novice coaches or those with
some experience. Designed primarily for coaches of U8, U10, or U12
teams. Our intention in the F course is to help you to become a more
resourceful and confident "activity leader" - to combine your
enthusiasm and commitment to children with the basic theory and
practical exercises that we'll provide.
Prerequisites: G License MANDATORY
Content:
Ideas about how to organize practices and game days, many games and
exercises for practices, a more thorough demonstration of basic
technique, elementary goalkeeping techniques, some basic tactical
ideas.
Materials (Given to the coach): Mass Youth Soccer F Manual and Mass Youth Soccer Coaching Program T-shirt.
Course Minimum Number of Participants: 12 Coaches
For Whom:
Novice coaches, or those with some experience of U8, U10, and U12
teams. Must be 16 years of age to attend and must hold G license.
Duration: 8 hours
Cost: $55/person
Deposit: $660 (12 person minimum requirement)
The E Course
This
course combines soccer theory and practice. During the course, each
participant will have the opportunity to lead a short coaching session,
with constructive feedback from the instructor. Designed primarily for
experienced coaches of U10, U12, and U14 teams.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of the F course, and must be at least 6 months after completion of F.
Content:
Systems of play, laws and restarts, more games and exercises for
practices, more tactical ideas, including the tactics of 2 versus 1
situations, and more on goalkeeping.
Materials (Given to the coach): Mass Youth Soccer E Manual and Mass Youth Soccer Coaching Program T-shirt.
Course Minimum Number of Participants: 16 Coaches
For Whom: 16 years of age, and holds an F license for at least 6 months
Duration: 16 hours
Cost: $85/person
Deposit: $1360 (16 person minimum requirement
The D Course
A
rigorous course for experienced coaches of U12, U14, or U16 club or
town teams, or of high school teams. Three or four years experience
coaching older players is recommended. *Please notice: You must
possess the E license for 6 months before you can enroll in the D
License course. There are NO waivers directly into the D Course.*
Prerequisites: Successful completion of the E course, and can only be taken 6 months after completion of E.
Content: Coaching methodology and fitness; more advanced techniques and tactics; more goalkeeping, and "the correction method".
Materials (Given to the coach): The Mass Youth Soccer D Manual
Tests: Both written and practical coaching exams
Course Minimum Number of Participants: 20 Coaches
For Whom: Must be 16 years of age, and holds an E license for at least 6 months.
Duration: 36 hours*
Cost: $300
*During
the last eight hours of the D Course, each coach takes a one-hour
written examination and presents a 20-30 minute practical coaching
session that is graded.
